Night Float
NIGHT FLOAT PROTIPS
After the attending leaves, post preliminary report to notes section in PACS on all STAT cross sectional imaging. Call plain films IF there is a critical or subtle finding. Use your best judgement.
You don't have to dictate them, but look through non-stat inpatient CTs and MRIs just to make sure there isn't anything acute that could kill the patient.
If you have technical problems, call PACS support at 316-962-7800 .
After you check out in the morning fill out the discrepancy form and leave it in Dr. Paul's mailbox (one for every morning) . Report on things that change patient management. Put a second call report sentence on the report. If the original ER doc is gone then call the ED physician on duty or charge nurse.
